Solar Panel Cleaning Service

Solar Panel Cleaning

Cleaning solar panels is a delicate process. Solar cells are easily damaged by pressure washing, abrasive sponges, soaps, and leaning on panels to clean them. Water droplets must also be squeegee’d off before they dry otherwise you’ll be left with hard-water spots. To be sure that you're getting the most out of your solar panel system, let a professional perform a solar panel cleaning.

How Does Cleaning my Solar Panels Help Me?

Our tropical climate and constant tradewind flow creates the perfect storm for dirt, grime, bird droppings, salt residue, and other pollutants to accumulate on your solar panels. Without a clean surface, the sunlight doesn’t fully reach the solar cells and dirty solar panels aren’t saving you any money! Any foreign material or object that obscures the cells within the panels is basically like a cloudy day, but on a permanent basis.

Our soft wash cleaning process not only removes all dirt, grime, mold, and mildew, but also involves a Deionized Water Purification system, which removes hard water minerals such as Calcium, Iron, and Copper to ensure your solar panels are left spot-free! We use pure water in conjunction with a specialized water-fed pole and soft brush head to gently remove the soiling. Clean panels means energy production, and a reduction in your electric bill. We recommend having your PV panels cleaned at least once a year.

What is the Process to Clean Solar Panels?

We employ a soft wash method to cleaning solar panels. This means there is no high-pressure water used, or machinery involved in cleaning your panels. Our cleaning techs use our environmentally-safe cleaning agents to loosen dirt, grime, etc. before we use brushes designed for this kind of cleaning to remove all foreign matter by hand power, only.

FAQ - Questions we Commonly Receive:

Q: How often should my solar panels be cleaned?
A - Homes or businesses that are very close to the ocean will probably want to clean their panels more often than those who are farther away from the shores. Close proximity to the ocean and salt spray will mean more of a film buildup over time that reduces energy production. In addition to that, the salt buildup can become corrosive to components if left unaddressed, and while we focus on the panels, we do clean the attached components as well, which is a part of the PV system. Properties in high-humidity areas can also experience something similar, but related to mold and lichen. 1-2 times per year is usually the optimal number, but we can provide you a more accurate assessment when we come to your property.

Q: What is the process to clean solar panels?
A - Your solar panel system can remain as it is for cleaning. No disassembly is done, and we apply our cleaning agent and soft wash the panels as they are. This will be similar to a light rain shower and shouldn't affect anything else on your property, but we do recommend relocating any items under the eaves of the home that cannot become wet.

Q: What does the deionized water do, does it really make a difference?
A - Yes. We use this kind of water to rinse after the cleaning process is done because it contains no minerals or other impurities that will leave a film or residue. It rinses completely clean, and this means that your solar panels will be running at their peak performance when we leave.
